Synopsis
*This is the follow up to The Line That Binds*
While searching for answers involving Stockton Estate's stone well, Ben Shadows and LJ Wayde discover one truth: the curse is real.
Unfortunately, that truth has LJ facing the same fate that's been tied to her bloodline for generations. The curse has given her the ability to help others conquer their greatest weaknesses, but it comes with a torturous price. As the rush of helping people starts to outweigh the pain of the consequences, LJ moves toward acceptance. She considers it a gift and a possibility to make up for the way she treated people in her past.
Ben pushes on to find an end to the curse despite LJ's reluctance. With reasons linked to her Aunt Janine's memory loss, Ben fears the real consequences are far worse than LJ's current symptoms. His love for her drives his need to protect her, even if it means hiding the next piece of the well's mystery.
When LJ finds what Ben has kept secret, she may never forgive him.
Will he lose her heart before he can save her mind?

Excerpt
The alarm clock kicked on. Its music was distant, muted. In another room? I shifted my stiff body. My back protested the movement with a pinch that rivaled a knife wound. There wasn't a comforter or any pillows around my body, only a coldness seeping up from . . .
The floor.
Cracking my eyes open, I realized I was in the bathroom. I palmed the frigid, ivory-colored tile and pushed up to my knees. Every part of me ached. I glanced around and noticed a shallow pool of water inside the footed tub. A sponge lay at the bottom.
Ugh.
I'd cleaned again. It was starting to happen more often. Time was slipping away without recollection. I'd be lying if I said it didn't scare me at all. Part of me was terrified. The other part was already numb, ready to accept this fate. My family's fate.

Review
4 out of 5 stars

I received a gifted copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

The Line That Breaks is the sequel to The Line That Binds.  If you have not read the first book, please read my review here and one click it!  It is sure to keep you entertained!

The Line That Breaks picks up right where the The Line That Binds ends.  LJ and Ben are searching for clues to find a cure or more information on the curse that has found its way to LJ.  As you remember, she is able to hear people’s wishes and grant them when she touches their skin.  This storyline is really unique for me.  I have read a lot of paranormal books and they always include some sort of supernatural being or creature (I love a good vampire or werewolf!), but this story doesn’t have any of that and it was really refreshing.

LJ is a really great character that struggles with acceptance and the curse in general.  She does piss me off occasionally with her stubbornness, but probably only because I see the other POV.  I love the fact that LJ knows when to fight her battles and when to let it go with other people, like Emily.  I love her interactions with Ben and the love she has for him.  My heart also breaks for her because she does some pretty self-destructive things with good intentions.  LJ hasn’t had the easiest life but she still wants to help others. How can you not love that about someone?!

Ben is desperate to find the solution to this curse and protect LJ at all costs.  I love hearing things from his POV since the story is told from both perspectives. My heart crushed in the first book when you discovered the reason for his heart ache, his girlfriend, Harper’s death.  But I can see in TLTB2 that as much as he loved Harper, his love for LJ is even greater.  It rips his heart out to see her in so much torment and something’s that he does, although with good intentions, end up making things worse for everyone.  I am really glad that Pop, his grandfather finally pulled his head out of his ass.

Will they find out the secrets they have been searching for?  Or will LJ end up losing in this battle?  Can the love Ben and LJ share really last through the turmoil?  One click this book today!  You won’t regret it!  Great job J.M. Miller! It was a perfect ending for an awesome series!
